Steve Kerr changes mind, chooses LaMarcus Aldridge over Kevin Durant as West starter

Portland forward LaMarcus Aldridge will start for the West in Sunday’s All-Star Game, replacing New Orleans forward Anthony Davis, per ESPN’s Marc Stein. Stein reported earlier Saturday that Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant would be Davis’ replacement, but West coach Steve Kerr changed his mind on the starting lineup. Davis announced he would be unable to play after suffering a sprained right shoulder from a nasty fall against the Bulls.301687-330-0

This marks the third starter that will be out due to injury for the West, with Davis joining Kobe Bryant and Blake Griffin. Bryant will miss the rest of the season with a torn rotator cuff  and Griffin will be out indefinitely following shoulder surgery to remove a staph infection.

The West will now start Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, James Harden, Aldridge and Marc Gasol. The East starters include Kyle Lowry, John Wall, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Pau Gasol.
